Jamaica is 50! (A Short Tribute)

Monday 6th of August marked the 50 years of Jamaica’s independence from British rule. How was this celebrated? By Usain Bolt receiving Gold as the Olympic champion in 100m and Yohan Blake receiving the Silver in the same event. It is interesting and exciting that the award ceremony coincided with the day Jamaica was granted independence from Britain. In the midst of economic struggles and high crime rate, Jamaica today can boast of the fastest man in the world ever. This is definitely something worth celebrating as Jamaica celebrate 50 years! Apart from producing the fastest man in the world, the island can also be proud of producing great sprinters. The likes of Yohan Blake, Aasfa Powell, Shelly Ann-Fraser Pryce, who is the Olympic champion (twice now) and Veronica Campbell (200m Olympic champion) to mention a few are all winning medals at the London Olympics. God bless Jamaica!
